Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah celebrate during Liverpool’s match with Southampton (Reuters)Roberto Firmino has been credited with the assist of the season for his role in Mohamed Salah’s goal against Southampton.
The Liverpool duo combined just before half-time at St Mary’s to score a wonderful goal.
Salah played the ball into Firmino, who flicked the ball through Southampton’s defence with the inside of his heel to return it to his team-mate. Salah then calmly finished past Alex McCarthy to cap off the perfect move.

Firmino saw Salah meet his pass and slot the ball into the netSpeaking at half-time, Graeme Souness told Sky Sports: ‘It doesn’t get any better than this.
‘Firmino he’s a cute and clever player.’

The goal made it 2-0 to Liverpool, with Salah having earlier set up Firmino for the opener. That took Firmino’s tally for the season to 20 – his best since 2013/14.
