Mohamed Salah’s agent responds to Barcelona transfer speculation

Mohamed Salah has been linked with a summer move to Barcelona (Picture: Getty)Mohamed Salah’s agent has denied the prolific Liverpool forward has been offered to Barcelona as a potential summer signing.

The 25-year-old’s value has rocketed following a prolific first season at Anfield during which he scored 44 goals in all competitions, playing a key role in Liverpool’s record-breaking run to the Champions League final.

Reports on Wednesday from Spanish outlet AS claimed the former Roma winger’s representatives had held several talks with key Barcelona figures and offered the Spanish champions the chance to sign Salah this summer.

The report also claims that Barcelona have been made aware that Salah is interested in a move to Camp Nou, while the club are currently working out the potential cost of the transfer.

Ramy Abbas Issa, Salah’s agent, took to Twitter, however, to shoot down the suggestion he had played any part in attempting to broker a lucrative transfer.

Barcelona are also interested in Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann (Picture: Getty)Salah was signed for an initial £36.9 million fee from Roma last summer, although that figure could rise to £43.9m with add-ons

Klopp insisted towards the end of Liverpool’s campaign that he is not even entertaining the prospect of selling Salah this summer. ‘It’s not a situation I would even think about it,’ he said.

Barcelona, meanwhile, are in the market for a new attacker and Salah would be viewed as an alternative signing to Antoine Griezmann. The France international has a €100m (£88m) buyout clause in his contract with Atletico Madrid and the Spanish club will not accept offers for lower than that figure.

Barcelona insist Liverpool transfer target Ousmane Dembele going nowhere

Ousmane Dembele is wanted by Liverpool (Picture: AFP)Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has dismissed speculation about Ousmane Dembele’s future, insisting the forward will remain at the club.

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly desperate to sign Dembele this summer, and is believed to have asked to speak to the youngster’s mother in a bid to convince the attacker to join Liverpool.

Barcelona paid £135.5million for Dembele last summer, but that has not stopped the transfer speculation.

Klopp may be working on convincing Dembele to quit the La Liga champions, but Bartomeu insists the Frenchman is going nowhere this summer.

‘[Philippe] Coutinho, Dembele are for us a big investment,’ he said.

‘They are very important players and we expect a lot from them. Coutinho probably in the last four months has been very active for the team.

(Picture: AFP)‘But Dembele is a very young player, a very talented player that we are, of course, expecting a lot from. He’s been demonstrating during the season that he’s a good young player for us.

‘But, of course, next season will be different. It’s not easy to play in Barcelona the first year because the model of football is quite different from the rest.

‘But after one year I’m sure we are going to see Dembele and Coutinho at a very high level.’

(Picture: AFP)Liverpool sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in January, but the attacker had to watch from a distance as his former side made it all the way to the Champions League final.

Coutinho would have collected a winners medal should Liverpool have beaten Real Madrid having been an integral player during the Reds’ group stage campaign.

Dembele and Coutinho did not enjoy the electric start to life at the Nou Camp fans were hoping for, but showed glimpses of their talent.

(Picture: AP)Much of Dembele’s season was interrupted by injury, but he still managed nine assists and four goals in 24 appearances.

Klopp has been following Dembele’s progress since he signed for Borussia Dortmund and forward reminded everyone of his talents with a slick finish against Italy on Friday night.

Dembele will represent France at the World Cup and will be hopeful his showing will prove to Barcelona he deserves a starting place in their side.

Liverpool turn to Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen after Jan Oblak and Alisson setbacks

The former Ajax shot-stopper is backup to Marc-Andre Ter Stegen at Camp Nou (Picture: Getty)Liverpool have added Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen to their shortlist of players who could replace Loris Karius between the sticks this summer, according to reports.

The Merseysiders completed a £44m deal for Monaco midfielder Fabinho on Monday in what promises to be another ambitious window for the Reds, though their real priority is a goalkeeper.

Current No.1 Karius made two mistakes in last Saturday’s Champions League final as Real Madrid sealed a 3-1 victory in Kiev, practically rolling the ball to Karim Benzema for Real’s opener.

Liverpool will look to replace Karius with a new goalkeeper this summer (Picture: EPA)His night got even worse when he palmed Gareth Bale’s long range effort into his own net, and the German’s hapless display has underlined Liverpool’s need for a new goalkeeper.

Prior to the Champions League final, manager Jurgen Klopp had been prepared to stick by Karius unless one of his top targets – Jan Oblak or Alisson – became available, but that stance has changed.

Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo report that Liverpool are now considering signing Barca keeper Cillessen if Oblak or Alisson cannot be prised away from Atletico Madrid and Roma respectively.

The Dutch keeper has played understudy to No.1 Marc-Andre Ter Stegen since moving to Camp Nou but wants to play more and is ready to push for a move to get more game time.

Cillessen would be a much cheaper transfer than either Oblak or Alisson (Picture: Getty)Both the player and Barcelona have been alerted to Liverpool’s interest, and the Catalan club are worried his £52.5m buyout clause could prove more attractive than the fees being demanded by Roma and Atletico.

Both sides will hold out for record fees for their shot-stoppers, with Roma not willing to accept anything less than £80m for Alisson and Atletico keen to increase Oblak’s release clause to £175m.

Barcelona offer Ousmane Dembele to clubs amid interest from Liverpool

The Frenchman has struggled to live up to his price tag since leaving Dortmund (Picture: Getty)Barcelona are prepared to sell Ousmane Dembele this summer just a year after he joined the club and are already contacting potential clubs they could sell him to, according to reports.

The French winger – who has been linked with Liverpool recently – moved to Camp Nou from Borussia Dortmund in a deal that could reach £135million, though missed much of the start of his maiden campaign through injury.

After returning to full fitness he still struggled to hold down a first-team role in Ernesto Valverde’s side, with Philippe Coutinho frequently preferred on the right wing.

Dembele has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Barcelona (Picture: Getty)And now Spanish radio station RAC1 claim that Barcelona are ready to cut their losses on a player who has netted just three times in La Liga this season.

Club officials are ready to offload Dembele either as a straight cash transfer or a loan with a mandatory option to buy.

They have already contacted several top European clubs who could afford to pay a similar fee to the £135m Barca paid last summer, and Liverpool are likely to have been one of the clubs they reached out to.

The Merseysiders have recently been linked with a move for the 21-year-old, with reports in France claiming Jurgen Klopp has been obsessed with Dembele ever since he joined the German’s old club Borussia Dortmund.

He said: ‘During the game we agreed a deal? I would be surprised about that to be honest. But no comment.

‘What was the second name? Oh! [Dembele] is on the market? Is he on the market? Now I am interested! I never comment on transfer rumours. I’ve said already much more than I usually say.’

Barcelona open to selling Luis Suarez if they sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid

Barcelona chiefs are considering selling Luis Suarez. (AFP/Getty Images)Barcelona’s hierarchy have discussed the prospect of selling Luis Suarez this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The newly crowned Spanish champions are expected to complete a deal for Antoine Griezmann this summer by activating the player’s release clause with Atletico Madrid.

Griezmann signed a new contract shortly after his failed move to Manchester United last summer, and a stipulation in that deal will see his release clause halved from €200 million (£175m) to €100m (£87m) from July 1.

And according to Catalunya Radio, if Barcelona complete the signing of Griezmann, Suarez could leave Camp Nou.

The report claims that Barcelona’s board members have already floated the idea of Suarez’s sale, providing they receive a good enough offer.

And during his time at Camp Nou, the Uruguay international has won 11 trophies, five of which came in his first season.

Speaking about Griezmann last week, Suarez admitted he would welcome the France international’s arrival.

‘It makes the club proud to bring players of this quality like Antoine, like [Ousmane] Dembele and [Philippe] Coutinho came,’ the former Liverpool striker told Spanish station Radio Rincon.

Suarez’s contract with Barcelona expires in 2021. (Getty Images)‘He’s a player who brings a huge amount, he has a lot of years playing at the highest level, always fighting.

‘He rules up front for Atletico and that is fundamental.

‘He is not coming to take the place of anyone, but with the ambition of winning important things.

‘He will be welcomed.’

Jurgen Klopp ‘obsessed’ with Ousmane Dembele as Liverpool eye sensational loan move

The German coach is eager to bring the French winger to Anfield (Picture: Getty)Jurgen Klopp is desperate to add Ousmane Dembele to his squad this summer and has instructed Liverpool to try and sign the Barcelona winger, according to reports.

It emerged on Sunday that Liverpool are closing in on a £62million deal for Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir, though the reports also claimed that the Merseysiders will move for compatriot Dembele this summer too.

And now French TV show SFR Sport are reporting that Klopp has been ‘obsessed’ with Dembele ever since he joined the German’s old club Borussia Dortmund.

Klopp admitted he was ‘interested’ in Dembele at a recent press conference (Picture: Getty)Dembele joined a year after Klopp had already left, denying him the opportunity to coach the precocious winger, and he has been a huge fan ever since.

Klopp believes he could be an excellent addition to Liverpool’s attacking ranks, though he won’t come cheap having become the third most expensive player in the world when he joined Barcelona last summer.

More: Football

As a result, SFR Sport claim Liverpool are exploring the possibility of signing Dembele on loan with an option to buy, similar to how PSG constructed their deal for Kylian Mbappe.

Dembele, who could cost Barca a total of £135m, hasn’t quite settled in Catalonia and was an unused substitute in Sunday’s fiery Clasico with Real Madrid.

Dembele has only started nine matches in La Liga for Barcelona (Picture: Getty)Instead, ex-Liverpool man Philippe Coutinho lined up on the right of midfield, despite still being unfamiliar with the role, denying Dembele the chance to add to his solitary La Liga goal.

Dembele has been reduced to just 14 appearances in the league for Barcelona after picking up a serious injury at the start of his Camp Nou career, though he has laid on six assists – one every 121 minutes.

Reports in France claim Liverpool are closing in on Fekir (Picture: Getty)Asked about rumours linking Liverpool with Fekir and Dembele, Klopp said on Sunday: ‘During the game we agreed a deal? I would be surprised about that to be honest.

‘But no comment. What was the second name? Oh! [Dembele] is on the market? Is he on the market? Now I am interested!

‘No, nothing [to say]. Obviously you are not from Liverpool. I never comment on transfer rumours. I’ve said already much more than I usually say.’

Jurgen Klopp responds to Ousmane Dembele and Nabil Fekir transfer rumours

Liverpool have been linked with summer moves for the French attackers (Picture: Getty)Jurgen Klopp has laughed off speculation that Liverpool are working on deals for both Lyon captain Nabil Fekir and Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele.

Reports emerged from France on Sunday that Liverpool had agreed a £62million fee with Lyon for Fekir, who will sign a five-year contract, while the Reds will also try and lure Dembele to Anfield.

But Klopp has played down the rumours, though did concede that Dembele – who moved to Barca in a deal that could reach £135m – is a player that interests him.

Reports in France claim Liverpool have struck a deal for Fekir (Picture: Getty)Asked about the reports after losing to Chelsea, he told reporters: ‘During the game we agreed a deal? I would be surprised about that to be honest.

‘But no comment. What was the second name? Oh! [Dembele] is on the market? Is he on the market? Now I am interested!

‘No, nothing [to say]. Obviously you are not from Liverpool. I never comment on transfer rumours. I’ve said already much more than I usually say.’

Liverpool have reportedly identified Fekir as a belated replacement for Philippe Coutinho, but also want Dembele to bolster their attack further.

Mention of Dembele’s name definitely grabbed Klopp’s attention (Picture: Getty)The French winger played a single season at Klopp’s old club Borussia Dortmund before moving to Barca, though has rather struggled to settle in Catalonia.

Dembele has just one league goal this season, while Fekir has netted 17 times and leads Lyon’s scoring charts, and the 24-year-old could be accompanied to Anfield by his younger brother, Yassin.
