Liverpool target Caglar Soyuncu in ‘concrete talks’ with Arsenal, confirms agent

Caglar Soyuncu is in negotiations with Arsenal (Picture: Getty)The agent of Freiburg star Caglar Soyuncu has confirmed that the defender is in ‘concrete talks’ with Arsenal over a move to the Emirates.

Soyuncu has made 55 appearances for Freiburg since joining the club back in 2016 but the 22-year-old centre-back is being heavily linked with Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool this summer.

The Turkey international is regarded as one of the finest young defenders in the Bundesliga and a move will not come cheap, with Freiburg demanding £35million for his signature.

Soyuncu’s representative, Mustafa Dogru, confirmed Liverpool’s interest and also lifted the lid on the Gunners’ discussions for the youngster.

More: Football

Arsenal’s head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat, has been aware of Soyuncu’s talent for some time.

‘Sven Mislintat has been keen on Caglar since he was at Borussia Dortmund,’ Dogru told Turkish Football.

Liverpool have registered their interest in the Turkey defender (Picture: Getty)‘He first scouted him back in Germany. Sven is interested in Caglar, there are concrete talks, all that remains is for a fee to be agreed. We will see what happens next.’

‘What I will say regarding the Liverpool link is that there were four to five Premier League clubs scouting him over the international break.’

Sven Mislintat is an admirer of Caglar Soyuncu (Picture: Getty)Dogru admitted that several clubs from around Europe are keen on Soyuncu but believes the defender is most suited to the Premier League.

‘There are four Premier League sides who’ve made a move for Soyuncu, that we are in talks with,’ he added.

‘There is also interest from Atletico Madrid in Spain and a few clubs in France, Italy and Germany.

More: Football

‘I’m not surprised by the interest, Caglar is a modern defender, he’s mobile, fast, dual-footed, has an excellent passing range. He’s also tough and very physical.

‘I think the Premier League is ideal for a defender with his attributes. I think he is ready now for a new challenge but we will see what happens.’

Roma make move for Arsenal transfer target Bernd Leno to replace Liverpool-bound Alisson

Roma goalkeeper Alisson is wanted by Liverpool (Picture: Getty)Roma are already making plans to replace Liverpool target Alisson Becker with Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno, according to reports.

Two catastrophic errors from Loris Karius in last weekend’s Champions League final defeat against Real Madrid have highlighted Liverpool’s need for a new goalkeeper with Simon Mignolet, relegated to No.2 earlier this year, likely to leave Anfield this summer.

Jurgen Klopp has already secured the signing of midfield anchorman Fabinho, as well as Naby Keita, and is expected to pursue Alisson who is valued at around £79million by the Serie A club.

Real Madrid are also said to be interested although the 25-year-old’s agent played down the suggestion earlier this week that a deal had already been agreed.

‘The suggestion that he already has an agreement with Real Madrid is completely false,’ he told ForzaRoma.inf.

The Gunners are said to have identified Leno and a potential new No.1 but are likely to face competition from Roma, according to Corriere dello Sport.

But the midfielder’s representative has confirmed that City face competition from three other Premier League sides, even though Arsenal have yet to appoint Arsene Wenger’s successor, while Antonio Conte’s future at Chelsea remains uncertain.

Liverpool and Arsenal in battle to sign Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy

Alex McCarthy has enjoyed a fine season for Southampton (Picture: Getty)Liverpool and Arsenal are set for a battle to sign Alex McCarthy from Southampton this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

Scouts from the Emirates and Anfield have watched McCarthy extensively this season as both clubs look to strengthen their goalkeeping options.

The Gunners are looking for a replacement for Petr Cech – the 35-year-old has endured a difficult season and is expected to end his Premier League career this summer.

More: Football

Jurgen Klopp is also on the look-out for a new goalkeeper with Simon Mignolet potentially heading for the exit door and Loris Karius often failing to impress.

McCarthy, who joined Southampton in 2016 in a £3.5million deal from Crystal Palace, started the current campaign in the Southampton reserves, playing back-up to Fraser Forster.

But he came back into the side over Christmas and kept Forster on the sidelines as Southampton narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship.

Liverpool’s interest in McCarthy comes after the club were linked with a stunning move for Pepe Reina, the former Spain international who played almost 400 games for the Reds.

Reina, 35, is currently at Napoli but Liverpool chiefs are said to be keen to bring him back to Anfield to help a more inexperienced goalkeeper flourish.

Liverpool’s top target in goal is Alisson but Roma have slapped a whopping price-tag on the Brazilian’s head.

Andrija Zivkovic has impressed since signing for Benfica in 2016 (Picture: Getty)Arsenal are ready to submit an official offer for Benfica winger Andrija Zivkovic when the summer transfer window opens, according to reports.

Zivkovic, 21, has made an impressive impact at Portuguese outfit Benfica since signing from his boyhood club Partizan Belgrade in 2016.

The Serbia international’s performances helped Benfica win the domestic title last season, while he featured in the Champions League this term, facing Manchester United in the group stage.

It is claimed the player’s entourage are excited about the possibility of signing at the Emirates and that he has a release clause written into his current contract worth around £53million.

Arsene Wenger is set to leave Arsenal after 22 years this weekend and he believes the club only need to make ‘two or three’ signings to compete for the Premier League next season.

The Gunners will finish sixth this season, having also missed out on the top four last year.

More: Football

Speaking after his departure was confirmed last month, Wenger said: ‘I want to say this team has quality.

‘Two years ago we finished second in the league, last year we made 75 points, won the FA cup, won the Charity Shield, we were in the League Cup final we are in semi-final of Europa League.

‘So these players have quality, hopefully we can show that again before end of the season. Convinced in the future with two or three additions this team can fight for the championship.’

More: Football

The Reds are set for a top-four finish this season and could yet win the Champions League – they face Real Madrid in the final in Kiev later in the month.

But Klopp knows further spending is necessary to keep up with Liverpool’s rivals and he has identified Malcom as a top target, according to the Daily Mail.

Malcom, who has scored 21 goals in 94 appearances for Bordeaux since signing from Corinthians in 2016, is one of the most highly-rated players in Ligue 1.

Manchester United and Arsenal are also interested in the Bordeaux star (Picture: Getty)He was heavily linked with Manchester United and Arsenal over the winter and looks destined to finally leave for the Premier League at the end of the season.

Liverpool have included Malcom on a shortlist of targets that also includes Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey and Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic.

Malcom is valued at around £40million and Bordeaux have essentially confirmed he will be sold this summer.

Nicolas de Tavernost, one of the French club’s majority shareholders, said last month: ‘There is a major player from Brazil who you know wants to leave the club and we will do that in all of our interests.
