Juventus chief discusses transfer plans for Jack Wilshere & Emre Can

Wilshere and Can have been linked with Juventus (Picture: Getty)Emre Can remains Juventus’ top summer target but their general manager Giuseppe Marotta would not rule out a move for Jack Wilshere, should they fail in their pursuit of the Liverpool man.

Both the Germany international and the Arsenal midfielder are out of contract in the summer and are free to negotiate an exit from the Premier League with foreign clubs.

Arsenal and Liverpool remain keen to keep them, but Italian giants Juventus are thought to be keen on securing a cut-price deal.

However, the Serie A outfit are more keen on landing the Liverpool central midfielder, who is their top summer target.

When asked about their interest in Wilshere, Marotta told ANSA: ‘It is well-known that we are concentrating on Emre Can, who will have to give us an answer.

‘He will be the first goal if he shows interest.

‘Otherwise, we will have to move to other targets.’

Can recently claimed that he is uninterested in sorting out his future before the end of the season and denied talk that he’d already agreed to join Juventus.

‘Of course I have to think about my footballing future,’ he said.

Can is a wanted man (Picture: Getty)‘I haven’t signed for any other club, I’m just focused on this season.

‘We want to finish in second place in the Premier League, we’re in the Champions League quarter-finals and we want to progress.

‘That’s all I’m focused on now. My agent has blocked all negotiations, I’m thinking only of football.’

Wilshere, meanwhile, is unimpressed by Arsenal offering him a pay-cut and has been offered an £8million signing on fee to join Everton.

Manchester City ready to scupper Liverpool and Arsenal hopes of signing Thomas Lemar

Thomas Lemar is coveted by a number of heavyweight Premier League sides (Picture: Getty)Manchester City will enter the running to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco this summer and deal a significant blow to their Premier League rivals, according to reports.

Arsenal have tracked the France international since his time at Caen and failed with a £90million bid on deadline day last August after the left-sided forward decided to remain at Monaco wtih the Gunners having accepted a bid from City for Alexis Sanchez.

The runaway Premier League leaders subsequently dropped their interest in the Chile international in January. City failed to agree a fee, were unwilling to bow to the demands of the 29-year-old’s agent and allowed Sanchez to move to local rivals Manchester United unopposed.

Liverpool had been hopeful of signing Thomas Lemar as a long-term replacement for Philippe Coutinho (Picture: Getty)Despite enjoying a staggering 16-point lead and boasting one of the most formidable attacks in Europe, City and Pep Guardiola are already gearing up for an assault on the summer transfer market in a bid to maintain their position of dominance.

City retain an interest in Eden Hazard but the Daily Telegraph claims Chelsea will not sell to a domestic rival and will therefore turn their attentions to Lemar.

Liverpool were said to be closing in on agreement with the 22-year-old as they eye their own long-term replacement for Philippe Coutinho, but City could blow Jurgen Klopp’s side out of the water with a far more lucrative offer.

Guardiola is also ready to go toe-to-toe with United for Shakhtar’s Brazil international midfielder Fred.

‘Of course we buy a lot of players and they have helped us a lot and next summer is to buy one or two players more,’ said Guardiola on Friday.

‘So our market in the summer will be cheaper. If you want to compete at a high level of competitions you need the good players, and the good players make good managers, good clubs.’
